Before beginning a solo career, Neil Zaza formed in 1987 the rock band ZAZA which toured U.S. and released an album called Party With The Big Boys in 1991. After his second solo album, Zaza was as a guest soloist with The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, performing “1492” and a guitar interpretation of “West Side Story”. His CDs often include guest appearances by veteran musicians including: Jordan Rudess - keyboard player from Dream Theater appears on his When Gravity Fails CD; Michael Anthony - bass player from Van Halen appears on his When Gravity Fails CD and his current studio project in progress; Steve Smith and Ross Valory - from Journey appeared on his Staring at the Sun CD. He has also shared the stage with notable guitarists such as Joe Satriani and Michael Angelo Batio. He holds an annual concert called One Silent Night at the Palace Theater in Cleveland with the backing of the 60 piece Cleveland Rock Orchestra and features his adaptation of popular Christmas songs to his melodic style. Neil Zaza is known for his heroic and spectacular entrances, often suddenly appearing from behind projector screens to provide his signature brand of neo-classical guitar virtuosity. 2004 - Melodica Если вы заслушали до дыр альбомы любимых гитарных героев, а душа все равно просит чего-нибудь новенького, то «Melodica», как раз подойдет для такого случая. Про Нейла пишут, что он гитарист школы Сатриани и Вая. Однако справедливости ради надо отметить, что Zaza не слепой подражатель, а «собрат по разуму и оружию», который не позволяет расслабиться старшим товарищам, дыша им в затылок и наступая на пятки (причем старшие товарищи не считают зазорным выступать с ним на одной сцене). Но в отличие от указанных «гитарных гуру», Нейл песен дурным голосом не поет. И новый его диск, как впрочем, и предыдущие шесть, полностью инструментальный. Часто бывает, что на альбомах гитаристов-виртуозов гитарист побеждает музыканта. Нейл в данную крайность не впадает (смотри название альбома). На «Melodica» все сыграно со знанием дела: мощная ритм-секция, журчащий Hammond-орган, правильный (большой) звук. Ну и разные разности: переход из рок-боевика в блюзовую психоделию, ближневосточные наигрыши, модные электронные фишки, печальные струнные и другие приятные штучки для увеселения почтенной публики. На альбоме нет великих музыкальных откровений, но и зевота при его прослушивании определенно не нападает. P.S. В Америке «Melodica» вышла в 2004 году.
